Krasnodar Krasnodar is the administrative centre of Krasnodar region, the unofficial capital of Kuban. The city stands on the right bank of the Kuban river and borders upon the Republic of Adygea. The population of Krasnodar is about 1 million people. The original name of the city was Ekaterinodar in recognition of Catherine the Great’s grant of this land to the Black Sea Cossacks. In 1920 the city was renamed Krasnodar – its party cell simply sent a telegram with this information to Moscow. Today Krasnodar is the centre of agricultural region, which produces most grain in Russia. All transport lines and routes leading to the Russian Black Sea resorts pass through the city.

Airport.

Krasnodar International Airport (Pashkovsky) is the largest airport of the Russian South, located 20 km away from the centre of Krasnodar city in Pashkovskaya village. You can get to the city from the airport by public transport – a trolleybus or a route taxi. It will take about an hour. The only city’s 5-star hotel Aton is the nearest hotel to the airport.

The railway terminal.

Krasnodar-1 railway station is located in the centre of the city at Privokzalnaya square, close to the central railway terminal. Krasnodar-1 station is used for local railway communication. Pedestrian areas of Krasnodar.

Most administrative and cultural institutions of Krasnodar are located at Krasnaya street. There are no political reasons for it – this name was given to this street by the Cossacks in the 18th century. The word ‘krasnaya’ means beautiful. Krasnaya street becomes a pedestrian area at weekends. To find yourself in the heart of cultural and business activity of Krasnodar you just need to book a hotel at the most beautiful street of the city – Krasnaya street. Young people of Krasnodar are also fond of the cascade fountains next to the Avrora cinema theatre. The KrasnodarExpo exhibition centre stands in the end of the street. During exhibition periods free shuttle buses run along Krasnaya street, stopping next to hotels. You will be able to get to the exhibition centre using this buses. The Krystal business centre with an office complex is located close to the main Krasnodar street.

Another pedestrian area of Krasnodar is Kubanonaberezhnaya street stretching 3 km along the Kuban river. This embankment is famous for its bridges: the Kisses Bridge, the Levers Bridge, and the Newlyweds Bridge.

The Solnechny Ostrov (Sunny Island) Park.

The Solnechny Ostrov (Sunny Island) Park is one of the favorite places of townspeople. The park is surrounded by the river on three sides. Here one can find various kinds of leisure and entertainment: from park amusements and an aquapark to a sports complex with a skating rink and the only private Safari park in Russia with pendant bridges and palm trees. The Red Royal Hotel stands close to central parks, All Saints Church, the Dinamo stadium, and the Circus. The hotel is aimed mainly at business travelers.
