Plyos, an administrative centre of the Ivanovo region, with population of 3,8 thousand, is located on the right bank of the Volga river. For the first time it was mentioned in the chronicles at the end of the 12th century. It was raised into the status of a town in 1925. The main places of interest are the House-Museum of I.I. Levitan, the Troitskaya Church, the Uspensky Cathedral, the Voskresenskaya Church.
