Moscow Hotels: National Hotel

The National Hotel in Moscow has completed the renovation and changed Le Meridien brand to The Luxury Collection, which is considered more elite one.

The hotel’s press service has reported that the National is the first Russian hotel to become a member of The Luxury Collection elite group and left Le Meridien brand, which also belongs to Starwood Hotels & Resorts company.

The National Hotel is a unique historical and architectural relic, a monument of federal significance, fully meeting requirements and priorities of The Luxury Collection. For changing its brand name the National Hotel had to carry out a complex of organizational and technical activities.

In 2008 the hotel started complete reconstruction and renovation of guest rooms. All rooms of the National Hotel have been equipped with plasma panels and DVD players. Guests are now welcome to use the film library containing the best examples of Russian and foreign film art.

During reconstruction the number of rooms has decreased from 230 to 206, as several Single rooms have been joined together. Today 15% of the rooms face the Kremlin. Interior of the renovated rooms, including Suites, has changed considerably: they are designed in light sunny colors, bathrooms have been increased in size, they are now equipped with state-of-the-art Jacuzzi. Guest rooms now feature new Italian furniture.

The National Hotel will undergo three more renovation stages. Soon the hotel will be equipped with underground parking for 50 cars, underground SPA and fitness centres. The present fitness centre on the 7th floor will be replaced with two new Presidential Suites, each about 150 sq.m in size.
